Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (8 count) tube Pillsbury Biscuits
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 small onion (optional)
  • seasoning to taste

The best comfort food! This quick and easy weeknight meal is always a hit with my kids and husband. Just 4 ingredients! Hamburger meat, cheese, onion, and canned biscuits. So yummy!

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Divide the biscuits in half, and place the bottom halves onto the bottom of a greased baking dish (I used a 7×11 ceramic dish). Bake for about 5 minutes, just enough time to give them a head start in the baking process so that they aren’t soggy.

Step 2 While the bottom half of your biscuits are baking, chop the onion and cook in a medium skillet with little bit of oil for about 5 minutes or until they are soft and cooked to your liking. Add the ground beef to the pan; chop and cook thoroughly. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (or the seasoning of your choice). Drain any excess grease from the pan.

Step 3 Remove the biscuits from the oven and top them with your beef mixture. Next, sprinkle about a cup of your favorite shredded cheese over top. I used a triple cheddar blend but colby jack or pepper jack would also be a yummy choice!

Step 4 Lay the remaining uncooked biscuits on top of the cheese. Place the dish back in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the biscuits are cooked through and golden brown.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (8 count) tube Pillsbury biscuits
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • seasoning to taste (I use Montreal Steak seasoning)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a glass or ceramic baking dish (I used a 7x9 dish but a 9x11 works, too).

  2. Separate the biscuits in half and line the bottom halves into your dish; set the top halves aside for later. Bake for about 5 minutes, just enough time to give them a head start in the baking process so they aren't soggy.

  3. While the bottom half of your biscuits are baking, sauté the onion in a medium size pan over medium heat with a little bit of oil for about 5 minutes. Once the onions are cooked to your liking, add the ground beef; chop and thoroughly brown. Drain any excess grease from the pan.

  4. Season the beef mixture with salt, pepper, garlic powder, or anything else you'd like. I use Montreal Steak seasoning for everything!

  5. Pull the biscuits out of the oven and evenly spread your ground beef mixture over top. Sprinkle the cheese over the ground beef, and then place the other half of your uncooked biscuits directly on top.

  6. Place the dish back in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops of the biscuits are golden brown.

  7. Serve alone or with your favorite cheeseburger condiments and toppings!

Recipe Notes
  • I tried this recipe with the Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers (shown in the picture), but I'd recommend the regular homestyle biscuits. It turned out great, but the flaky layers were hard to pull apart into equal sizes!
